The Test

Dubai to Abu Dhabi via Sheikh Zayed Road: 143 km one-way. Highway cruise at 120–130 km/h, AC on, two passengers. We completed the round trip and arrived back with 14% remaining.

Range in Numbers

• Claimed WLTP range: 520 km
• Our round trip: 286 km
• Consumed: ~86% of usable battery
• Projected real-world highway range: ~333 km

That's 64% of the WLTP figure — about average for highway-dominant driving in hot climates.

Charging

We topped up at the XPENG Supercharger in Abu Dhabi: 10% → 80% in 21 minutes on a 800V charger. Impressive.

Verdict

The G9 Ultra is an excellent SUV for Gulf conditions. The AC load hurts range more than in European climates, but the 800V charging infrastructure in the UAE is improving rapidly.
